UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage Plans for 2027

Plan year 2027 · Source: CMS · Checked October 29, 2026

What UnitedHealthcare offers

UnitedHealthcare is part of UnitedHealth Group. For 2027, it filed more Medicare Advantage plans with Medicare than any other company: 830 plans. Its plans are sold in 48 states and Washington, D.C.

Many of its plans carry the AARP name, and AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC is the full name you will see on most of them when you shop.

The company sells five kinds of plans:

  • HMO-POS plans (497)
  • PPO plans (295)
  • HMO plans (28)
  • Regional PPO plans (8)
  • Private fee-for-service plans (2)

Most of its plans are HMO-POS plans. With that kind of plan, you choose a main doctor and get most of your care in the plan's network, but some care outside the network can still be covered, often at a higher cost.

It also sells 350 special needs plans, which are plans built for people in a set group, such as people who have both Medicare and Medicaid or people living with a long-term health condition.

What its plans cost

Of the 830 plans, 485 charge no monthly premium. You still pay your Part B premium each month, just as you would with any Medicare Advantage plan.

A $0 premium does not mean $0 care. Each plan has its own copays and its own yearly limit on what you pay for care. Those numbers change from plan to plan, and from county to county. The plan pages in this section show the exact numbers for each plan, straight from Medicare's files.

Star ratings

Medicare rates each contract from 1 to 5 stars, and UnitedHealthcare contracts run from 2.5 to 5 stars for 2027, because the rating belongs to the contract and not to the brand as a whole. Two plans with the same company name can sit under contracts with very different ratings. Check the star rating on the plan page, not just the company name.

How to shop this company

Start with your county, because Medicare Advantage plans are sold by county and the plan a friend has in one state may not exist in yours, or may cost more where you live. Then check three things: your doctors are in the plan's network, your drugs are on the plan's drug list, and the yearly cost limit fits your budget.
